Brahmi expressions gif smiley for pidgin

I stitched a Brahmi expressions gif based smiley theme (for pidgin). Download from here.

For example, after installing try ‘ :abbo ‘ (without quotes) in your pidgin, should show Dr.Brahmanandam gaaru showing up in your chat window expressing “abbo” for you. For the complete list of smileys to try, download this. (the regular default smileys of pidgin are intact.)

To install ‘Brahmi’ theme into pidgin,  do one of three things:

    • Copy ‘Brahmi’ folder inside Brahmi.tar.gz,  into ~/.purple/smileys (See the FAQ for the location of ~/.purple on Windows)
    • Drag the  Brahmi.tar.gz file,  onto the list of smiley themes in Tools -> Preferences
    • Click the “Add” button in the “Smiley Themes” tab in the preferences, navigate to your Brahmi.tar.gz file, and click “Open”.

One important thing to remember is that these smileys only show up on your side. Unless the person you’re talking to has the same theme as you installed in the same client, it’s not guaranteed that they will see the same pictures as you for the smileys.

    Feedback is welcome.

    Cheers
    Chaitu

PS: Thanks to Ringo and Punch for testing and fixing.

    Few Kinds

The urban aam aadmi rather a Bangalorean IT stereotype, doing a minion work, cannot afford a car, usually traveling in posh-enough-for-wage-public-transport AC busses, lest their makeups, deo-perfume and well ironed clothing should wear out. Given that there are more managers than workforce and that their managers necessarily use cars, the roads are needlessly clogged in managerial chaos. So our IT chap waits, comfortably numb to stolen life, apathetic, sexless and indifferent in the mind dumbing traffic.

These are three things I see them do, while they are at it.

    1) Reads. Now there are three kinds of readers,
    a) Reads Chetan Bhagat – or equivalent IIT dude authored 150Pg, chick-flick books
    b) Others Kite Runner / Da Vinci Code / Harry Potter – popular, but very clichéd books
    c) News paper / Technical stuff / Self help books

    2) Sleeps. Yet again there are variations.
    a) Voluntary sleeper – rests arms on the next seat, cushions head on it and sleeps. Magically manages somehow to wakes up in time to get down for ones destination stop.
    b) Involuntary sleeper – keeps drooling, hitting head to the window and waking up at the strange noise it produces, and goes ‘whats that sound?’, In absence of window seat, use neighbor.

    3) Music, Like you guessed it – variations
    a) Listens to Radio – In spite that the same station is being played in the bus, uses headphones and phone gear.
    b) Personal Music – Almost always changing the song that plays next, because they can.
    c) iPod buds – the sole purpose of it being… well I take it as a show off about belonging to a clichéd elite.

No one talks to other. No one wants to look outside. No one wants to make phone calls. No one smiles. No one touches another. No one cares. People have constructed walls in freedom, the freedom they have of choices. And have convinced them self that the touch phone somehow makes them happy.

I? I passionately watch them, those beautiful moving sculptures – why people of course.

“We are all chaps who are comfortably numb to stolen life, apathetic and indifferent. We read small popular/peppy books and our sole purpose is to belong to a cliched elite. We don’t care. We have constructed walls in freedom. And we are convinced touch phones make us happy. And you? The one who can’t be stereotyped like us, the one who passionately watches all of us and puts us is pigeon holes. You have all the right to laugh at us. And, it is really nice of you, to call us ‘beautiful’ moving sculptures. Thank you. [Me bows to you]“, someone might want to say ;)

    Pissing for Dummies*

Step1. Unzip package and hold the mic out in direction away from audience.

Step2. Look up and wait while search-string operation executes. Deep Inhale.

Step3. If match found, establish connection and prepare for mass transfer as you reorient your view to look down.

Step4. Aim to shoot mode. Fine tune correction recommended.

Step5. Do not Disturb. Stand still as you reposition your head to look up again. (Closing of eyes may be an indication of relief.)

Step6. At 30% completion you will exhale.

Step7. Only 98% of transfer completion possible due to lapse in real time systemic constrains.

Step8. Shake well after use. 99.57% mass transfer completed.

Step9. Store mic, in a cool dry place. Hopefully away from sunlight and children.

    Statuary warnings:
-Do not talk while operation in progress or your singing may gain audience.
-Careful with mic wiring’s, may leave DNA samples.
-Consider washing before and after shaking hands.

That whole circle of A exists because of that C section. By commenting I am asserting my position :P

isn’t the degree of thinking required more for commenting than for sharing?!

      • Kartik Krovvidi 7:07 pm on April 23, 2010 Permalink | Reply

and among greader(and buzz of late) users, people who share are definitely more in number than those who take the pains to comment

        • Hacta Gatee 12:56 am on April 24, 2010 Permalink

The number of ppl who listen to your music > number who will like it and share it (252) > number of ppl who made it – you (audience, fans, artist). buzz is noob, look at twitter?

        • punchagan 8:57 pm on April 25, 2010 Permalink

So I guess, it boils down to the medium? The ease with which stuff can be shared and comments can be given? The internet as such seems to big a commodity to classify it’s users?

there goes our very own, philoso-scientific nature “lover”

        • avudem 2:10 pm on April 11, 2010 Permalink

          so mother is protective?

        • Hacta Gatee 10:10 pm on April 11, 2010 Permalink

this has abs nothing to do with mothers love, protective as in territorially cautious couples, emotionally protective ones…high sense of belonging. Best friends type also. (this logic of love here is valid only for couples, does not include mothers love)

mothers love is a mango fruit. what i m talking about here is the honey in a flower, and the sweet complication that it takes to makes the seed that go into it.

I had the privilege to listen to the full version of the theory, from the man himself. And I like it :) Believe me, it’s one heckuva theory. What all goes on in his head, I wonder.
